I stopped here to inquire about a long-term stay. The only thing this place has going for it is being on the ocean. Other than that, it is a large paved lot with very small and narrow spaces. The long-term residents look trashy, as the park apparently doesn't have any appearance standards for such residents. Parking is severely limited so second vehicles are parked parallel in front of campsites, making it difficult to drive through the park. The place looked trashy thanks to unkempt RVs. If you like the idea of being able to stay "on" the ocean, I suppose this is worth a night or two stay, but I wouldn't want to stay longer.
I drove to this park to inquire about a long-term rate. While the manager was friendly, the park itself was in major need of refurbishing. The spaces are small and narrow. The spot they wanted to assign me for my 38' 5th wheel was only 25' long. The place caters to the football crowd, and from what the manager told me, expect big, loud parties there in the campground during the season. The place is really nothing other than a paved parking lot with painted lines, and a few outbuildings. I really can't think of any word to describe this place other than it's a dump, and I wouldn't stay there for any amount of money, not even for one night.
The park itself is SPOTLESS! I have been a long-term resident since March. They are meticulous about people keeping their sites and RVs clean. They do not allow trashy RVs (but they will allow older units if kept up). Everybody has a patch of green grass that you must take care of if you're a long-term resident. You also get a storage shed. Each site is 25x50 and there is room to park a second vehicle. The pool and gym room are both spotless. The only negative is that the park is located in industrial San Jose, so air quality isn't that great at times, and there is occasional noise during the night from a nearby trucking transfer station. But this is a really nice park, probably the nicest I've ever stayed in.
It's basically a big parking lot, but is nice enough. I will stay here again, but not if I can get space elsewhere. Management was a lot nicer before KOA came in and took over. In the past, you could stay 28 days at a time, but now KOA only charges nightly/weekly. The biggest attraction now is that they're right next to the new Cabellas.
I was thrown out of this park while staying with a group of friends. Why? I was accused of "speeding" (8 mph in a 5 mph according to my GPS) by one of their "security guards" who had absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. I had the audacity to call him on it and he got in my face and threatened to physically drag me out of the park. The park management was unavailable at the time, and have not returned my phone calls, so I have been telling everyone I know to avoid this place, and all other Thousand Trails campgrounds.
A very clean park, but not much space between sites. They don't like truck campers but will grudgingly allow one if you promise not to unload it (they're afraid it will tip over). Park management is not very friendly either, at least the grumpy old woman I dealt with wasn't. The place is okay for a night or two, plus it's centrally-located so that's nice as well.
A very nice, clean, quiet park. Sites are a bit small, as is maneuvering, but it's manageable. There's actually grass between each space, which is nice. You can ride your ATV right from the park onto local trails. The only negative is that when I was there, they had no sewer hookups, just a dump station. They did say they were going to be putting full hookups in, but couldn't say when. Overall, a very nice place I will likely stay at again.
